Our Children

Art

Our vision for Art at Repton Manor Primary School

At Repton Manor Primary School, we believe that Art should engage, inspire and challenge our children. It is important that our children have time to explore and to experiment with the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes.

How do we teach Art?

We aim to encourage a deeper understanding of Art and Design and critical thinking by exploring various artists, craft makers and designers linked to topics learnt. Using artist’s work as an inspiration, the children will develop and secure their artistic skills and become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. Children will be encouraged to use their skills to create and develop their own independent works of art and as they progress through school, art experiences are built upon so they can make decisions about how they approach different challenges.
