Repton Manor Y5/6 Football Team:

Away Match vs Willesborough Juniors (Tuesday 10th March)

After numerous cancelled games last term, the Year 5/6 football team FINALLY kicked off their season with a touch away match to the current league leaders, and last year's runners up, Willesborough Juniors. After end to end drama in the first ten minutes, with Willesborough hitting the post, and some amazing saves from Repton's goalkeeper, Dylan, Repton finally unlocked Willesborough's defence and scored. Once they had found the keys, Repton continued to score thanks to their exceptional link up play, relentless pressing and solid defending. When the final whistle blew, it was 8-0 to Repton Manor. An amazing clean sheet for the defence (including debutant Bobby) and goals aplenty across the team, including a brace (2 goals) for debutant Dalton! Next up: Lady J at home on Monday 16th Match!

Line up (goals):
Dylan, Ollie, Ethan, Adam (1), Kaelan (3), Joshua (2), Michael, Dalton (2), Bobby

Player of the match (nominated by opposing team):
Adam

Home Match vs Lady Joanna Thornhill (Monday 16th March)

On Monday 16th March, Repton hosted our second match of the season, and first home game, under cloudy skies with high spirits after their previous win. Our opponents, Lady Joanna Thornhill Primary School. From the first whistle, it was clear this would be a tough game - our opponents were several levels above what we had encountered in our opening game and had no weaknesses in their side whatsoever with a particularly strong attacking force. Fortunately for Repton, Ollie and Ethan were warriors and led our defence, along with amazing tracking back, from the rest of the team, and managed to keep them out until a great counter attacking move from Adam found a ball through to Dalton who slotted the ball into the back of the net superbly. As the second half commenced, superb play from Lady J meant they found the back of the net, 1-1. You could cut the tension in the air like a knife through butter. Both teams exchanged blows with amazing runs from our mazy wingers, Kaelan, Josh and Bobby, and some amazing saves from Dylan 'the cat' in goal. Eventually, within two minutes, Michael found the keys to their defence and set up Adam for a goal; a third from a mazy run from our Magician, Kaelan, sealed the deal. Final score, 3-1. A well battled game where the team learned a lot and are ready to take it forward into our next game.
Next up, John Wesley at home.

Home Match vs John Wesley  (Tuesday 24th March)

On Tuesday 24th of March, amongst the strong winds and under a cloudy sky, Repton Manor lined up to take on John Wesley Primary School. From the kick off, it was clear that these were the toughest opponents that we had come up again so far this season, both physically and technically, with each team solid in defence, with Ollie and Ethan working tirelessly to shut down their attack at every given opportunity, and some amazing tracking back and battling from our wingers, Kaelan and Josh. After several probing attacks, an amazing through ball from our ever-improving centre forward, Dalton found Kaelan who calmly slotted into the back of the net. The first half finished frantically, but after the break, Repton recomposed themselves and took control of the game with some beautiful possession of the ball, mazy runs and overall mature composure and game management. All players on the team peppered the John Wesley goal with non-stop shots only to be saved by their incredible goalkeeper (a total of 12 corners for Repton!). Eventually, amazing battling and wing play from Josh resulted in him putting in a blinding cross which was expertly finished by our midfield maestro, Adam. Final score, 2-0 Repton.

A huge thank you on behalf of the players, Mr HB and Mr Jobber to the Repton Manor Families and community for showing up, come rain or shine to support our team!

Next up, the A&DPSSA Football Tournament on Friday the 27th where we will face all three of the teams that we have played so far this season for a second time, amongst other schools in Ashford!
